How to motivate yourself everyday? If you’ve come here, you may be feeling a bit lost. Maybe 2022 didn’t go for you as well as you planned, so you’re hoping to have the year 2023 be as productive as possible. I get that.

Join the 100 Day Challenge today!

To be completely honest with you, 2022 wasn’t a great year for me either. In fact, it was more of a mess. It was a year during which I was most of the time stressed out and as a result, I procrastinated a lot. But I am not too hard on myself, and neither should you be. Things like this happen in life.

So the question is then, what can we do to finish this year off with the most amount of progress?

First of all, I’d like to point out that I don’t like promising anything to myself, and I am totally against New Year’s resolutions. Why? Because they almost never work! I, including everyone that I know, have tried them so many times, and not once they were a success, at least not long-term.

If you are used to being lazy, then why should a New Year change that? If you haven’t been able to stick to a proper diet your entire life, so why should a new number (2023) change that?

And you know what, not only New Year’s resolutions never work, they are DANGEROUS!ย

Let’s take a fictional character as an example – a chronic procrastinator.

The person procrastinates with school, taking out the trash, calling a friend back, paying rent – everything. Now the guy decides that he will create a New Year’s resolution. He quickly jots down on a piece of paper: “I will not procrastinate this year.”

The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them.

Then the new year finally comes along. He manages to be active on the very first day, but then, because he already has formed a HABIT to procrastinate over such a long period of his life, he starts doing what is natural to him and what he is best at – he procrastinates.

Now that he has procrastinated once, he tells himself, “oh darn, I messed up, no reason to bother with the resolution anymore, it won’t work, back to square one.”

How to Motivate Yourself in 2020 (+100 Day Challenge) 2

In other words, in case you didn’t get it, our fictional character got disappointed in how ineffective the resolution was and immediately gave up.

Things like that happen all the time with New Year’s resolutions, which is why it is so important to not focus on them. Leave them behind, forget them.

Instead, if you really want to understand how to motivate yourself everyday, try doing the following things:

1. Give yourself the “WHY”

Wondering how to motivate yourself everyday? You do it just like you would do it on any normal day, but with a small exception. This time, you sit down, take out a piece of paper and figure out:

  • Why do you need to be motivated this year?
  • What has the lack of motivation caused you to miss/not accomplish last year?
  • What other things could you have accomplished last year if you were motivated?
  • What all can you accomplish this year by being motivated?
  • What does being motivated really mean to you, what is the purpose of it to you?

These are some solid, although a bit repetitive, questions to ask yourself. You need to create a foundation, a purpose of why motivation is so damn important for you.

Because if you don’t ask yourself these questions, you’ll do what you have always done and get the results you’ve always gotten. Sad, but true.

2. Plan of action & setting goals

Next, you need to create a plan of action. Creating or reminding yourself of the purpose only isn’t enough. You need to set some goals.

1. Set daily goals
2. Set monthly goals
3. Set a few big goals for the year

All of this should keep you on track. If you miss some of the weekly goals, you at least have a way to measure your success or the lack of it. You’ll say something along the lines of: “Hey, I didn’t do this on Friday, I’m off track, choppy chop and get back to it!”

Also, don’t forget to have at least one day a week completely free of things to do. This will keep your motivation at a good level. Reward your progress, too. Go to the movies, get treats, clothing, whatever you like.

3. Affirmations and Gratitude

Another thing to do if you don’t know how to motivate yourself everyday is to repeat affirmations and be grateful.

I know saying to yourself things along the lines of “I am motivated, I am perfectly fine being imperfect, but I am on the way to success (or something of that sort)” may sound like a bunch of baloney to some – and it is – but only if you do it while sitting on the couch every day while sipping on a beer and watching soccer.

On the other hand, if you are motivated, if you are taking massive action and saying affirmations on a daily basis, they will only make you stronger and motivate you even further. But don’t take my word for it, just go online and read how so many successful people do it. I am sure they know what they are talking about.

Figure out some good self-affirmations for yourself and repeat them on a daily basis.

Also, when you are going to sleep, don’t forget to be grateful. Replay the day in your mind and think of all the things that you have learned, what you have done, what lessons the day had taught you and how grateful you are for every single thing.

Gratefulness helps us understand that we are not wasting time. It helps us understand that we are in fact moving forward, one small (or big) step at a time. This increases motivation.

4. Books

Read some books on motivation if you are not doing so already. I can’t tell you how much they have helped me in my life.

If you want to be more motivated to start a business, read books on business. If you want to get slim, read books on how people lost weigh and what diets they used. You pick.

It’s quite sad that people don’t read as much as they used to when social media wasn’t around. Bu fortunately, there is an audiobook for pretty much any written book these days. Get those to your smartphone if you need to.

It goes without saying, by the way, but I will say it anyway – limit your time on social media, browsing mindlessly the internet, watching movies, playing games, etc.

Those are probably the biggest causes for why we lose so much time and are not motivated to do anything day after day. Set a time slot for how much you can procrastinate a day and don’t exceed it no matter what.

5. Eat, sleep, exercise

The body affects the mind, and the mind affects your motivation directly.

If one of those is off, fix it, now!

Sleep enough, eat healthily, exercise at least three days a week.

Going to the gym does wonders for me. If I don’t for whatever reason exercise for more than two days straight, I start feeling down, sad and simply lose my motivation. I need that exercise to stay efficient.

6. The 100 Day Challenge

The last point on how to motivate yourself everyday is The 100 Day Challenge.

If you have the money, you can always hire coaches in any field to help you stay motivated (probably the most effective option), but most of us can’t afford one on a daily basis. As an alternative, I can recommend the 100 Day Challenge, which is an online motivational program that is hosted on a yearly basis.

The program is basically for anyone that wants to make a transformation in absolutely any field in as fast as 100 days. You’ll get daily motivational videos and other content to keep boosting your motivation, and you will also be in a community of like-minded people, people that want to move forward FAST.

If taken seriously, this program is great. Its author, Gary Ryan Blair, has been now hosting it for 10 years straight, so he really knows what he is doing. If you want to learn more about it, you can get his free pre-launch manifesto that explains what the program is and what it will do for you.

So, these were some of the things you can do if you have trouble understanding how to motivate yourself everyday. I truly hope you can get yourself into your perfect place of productivity. ๐Ÿ™‚
