Maybe you have come here because you once heard someone talk about life coaching, but you weren’t sure what it was all about. Or maybe, you are here because you want help. Either way, you have come to the right place.
In the post, I want to explain to you what is life coaching and who is it for. I also want to share my experience of being a life coach and why I decided to help other people in the first place.
I want you to know that if you feel like you are stuck in life, you don’t need to be on your own. There are millions of others that are or were in the exact same place. But there is always someone that can help someone.
What is life coaching?
What is life coaching? There is a popular belief that life coaching is like therapy, in which you to talk and I listen. But this is actually very far from the truth.
I always tell the people that I work with that my goal is not to dig into their past. Of course, we do find limiting beliefs that are from the past, but that is only if they affect the present.
I am also not there to solve problems for people and not to make them feel good. On the contrary, I sometimes have to say things that they do not like and prefer not to hear, but that are absolutely necessary for their development.
Life coaching is not about comfort at all. It is about making changes in life, moving forward, completing goals and achieving. A person may come to me because he or she is struggling with motivation, lacking self-discipline, procrastinating or simply doesn’t know what to do in life. As a result, a lot of work will be done to make these changes happen.
The way in which life coaching differs the most from counseling or therapy is that it is all about action, not theory. Of course, there is a lot of theory, which I also love, but action is what dominates. Not taking action is what brings most people to life coaching in the first place. As a consequence, we make sure we change that by making the coaching sessions heavily goal-oriented.
Who is life coaching for?
When I began life coaching, I really thought that people would come to me with similar problems and that there would be a similar approach towards dealing with these problems. But the more clients I had, the more I understood that there is no one specific type of person that I coach and that all problems need an individual approach.
I have coached people that were having troubles finding a purpose in life, people that have struggled with themselves and how they perceive the world. I have also coached people that needed help with career change and self-discipline in their business. Some people, for example, prefer to talk only about internet business.
As you can see, life coaching has no limitations really, at least not for me. I always say that if I can help, I am more than happy to do so. You don’t necessarily need to have your life in a mess to qualify for life coaching. No, you may simply want accountability and someone to make sure that you do the work and complete your set goals.
How I decided to become a life coach
As a teenager, I was no different from anyone else. I used to hang out with friends day and night, play video games and engaged in self-destructive activities. At that time I couldn’t care less about what would happen to me in the future.
As I became a little older, I moved out of my parents’ house, got a driver’s license and even began to study in a university-college. I was doing all of the things I was expected to do. To the observer, it may have seemed as if things were actually good in my life.
The only problem was that nothing really was changing on the inside. Despite doing many of the “grownup things”, I felt like a kid on the inside with no vision of the future. I saw no purpose in my life and had no interest in what the future would bring to me. It felt as if I was wasting my life.
With time the feeling of “wrongness” in me intensified and became a pain. I continued to hang around pointlessly with friends, waste precious time and to engage in self-destructive activities. I smoked, I drank. Most days I woke up with a feeling of regret. Things got pretty dark.
I constantly thought about how much I hated what was happening to me, but it never crossed my mind that I was in power to change my life. I looked at the people around me, and visually, they were just like me, doing all of the same things that I was doing.
I remember how one day I woke up and something clicked in my head. So much frustration and anger was built up in me, that eventually, it burst. I no longer wanted to continue with the way things were in my life.
At the point, I didn’t yet know what is life coaching, but I began to search for motivational content on YouTube. I watched seminars, presentations and read books from some of the most successful people in the world. I even stopped going out, wasting my time and money.
Gradually, I began to feel better about myself. I improved my diet and began to do sports. I also found new activities that really motivated me and brought a sense of purpose to life. I became excited about the future.
By feeding myself with new information, I realized that so many people experience what I experienced. The reason why I didn’t even think that change was possible before was because, over the years, I have created a reality for myself that prevented me from realizing this. The people around me, poor health and my actions all played a negative role in it. But now that I made the decision to change, my reality began to change as well.
Because I managed to escape the “hole”, I wanted to share that experience with other people. That was the time when I began this blog, and that was the time when I realized that I wanted to coach people.
Since then, I have taken part in life coaching, as well as NLP courses. I constantly educate myself on these subjects.
This was, in a nutshell, my story. Hopefully, you also now know what is life coaching, who is it for and what are the benefits.

I think a life coach is a great options to many people. As you stated it’s not even a certain person. College students, you or old. Sometimes people just need a plan.

True. And the plan sometimes, depending on life circumstances, is difficult for some people to come up with.
