Some wonder, are online courses profitable? In short, as long as you approach it the right way, the answer is YES. However, in today’s blog post, I want to go a bit beyond just making money and share with you some other reasons why you would consider creating an online course in the first place. I want to talk about the eight reasons to create an online in 2023. I hope you find this post interesting.

1. Pandemic

Let’s face it, the pandemic sucked. Shops were closed, people had to wear masks, sit at home, and unfortunately, many did get sick. All of that is very unpleasant and it’s a pity that the world had to go through it.

Regardless of whether you believe in the coronavirus or not, one thing is for sure – the virus has changed the world forever.

Being an optimist, I always try to see the positive side of things. Yes, I too had to isolate myself for a couple of months. Yes, it was boring at times. However, one thing that I did a lot of was self-education, a lot of which happened over the Internet.

Online education grew enormously during the lockdown. In fact, even after the quarantine has ended, online education and work from home are still highly valued, more than it was before the pandemic (World Economic Forum).

So what does this mean for us, people interested in digital course creation? It means that NOW is the perfect time to create one. Execute, as Gary V. would say.

Ideas are shit, execution is the game.

2. Improved technology

One thing that was holding me back from making my own online course for some time was the belief that I need professional and expensive equipment in order to record it. I realized was wrong.

Going through Amy Porterfield’s Digital Course Academy program, she mentions that we don’t need to be fancy about the equipment at all. Technology today is so good that the whole course can be recorded using only your laptop and/or mobile phone camera and microphone.

This is not something that could have been done ten years ago. So if you don’t have the money, but you do have the motivation, a phone with a camera and/or a laptop, there is no reason to not take action.

3. Leaving your job

Another reason to create an online course now is the instability concerning standard day jobs.

As we all know, many people lost their jobs because of the coronavirus and now have a hard time with their budget. And even if you weren’t so unfortunate to lose your job, you now understand just how fast things can change if the virus returns and quarantine is placed on us once again.

It only makes sense to diversify your income now by creating an online course, which can be your financial backup if things go downhill.

On the other hand, who doesn’t want to work from home? Most of us, unless you really love your job, don’t want to be part of the infamous nine-to-five rat race forever. Creating an online course is probably the quickest way to transition from a typical job to a stay-at-home online business.

4. Teach your passion

This one is not so much a reason to create an online course in 2023, but more a reason to create an online course in general.

As already mentioned, not all people love their jobs. Moreover, many continue to work at a job they hate because they feel like it’s too late to transition to something new.

To be able to work in a new field, typically, you need to get a degree first. That takes time and can cost a decent amount of money, depending on where you live. With an online course, that transition can happen almost instantly. As Amy Porterfield puts it:

If you have gotten good results in something, or have helped someone else get good results in something, you can teach that.

Yep, online courses allow you to teach your passion to people regardless of whether you have a master’s degree in that subject or it’s just a hobby of yours. I mean, what can be better than doing something you love and getting paid for it?

5. Giving back

Same as with the last point, this one is more general. One reason to create an online course is about giving back. Let me explain.

As you can see, I blog. Obviously, I’ve made plenty of mistakes over the years in this field. However, whenever I needed help and guidance, there were always people on the internet ready to offer that help to me.

Now that I am more experienced with blogging, I want to give back to the online community by helping those people that are just starting out and need advice. As a result, I am making a digital course on blogging. Not only it is a passion of mine, but I also feel fulfillment because I am sharing all that I have learned so far so that new bloggers could advance faster and with fewer mistakes.

6. Spending more time with your family

Obviously, working from home has many benefits, such as resting when you need to, snacking when you need to, etc. But probably the most significant advantage of all, especially for those that have long and irregular workdays, is the possibility to spend more time with your loved ones. This reason outweighs all the others.

7. The laptop lifestyle

Yes, this is similar to the previous point, in which making online courses allows you to work from home and spend more time with your spouse and children. But for some, those that don’t have a family, creating online courses can mean the so-called “laptop lifestyle”.

And what is the laptop lifestyle exactly? It’s as simple as being able to work from anywhere in the world. Thousands and thousands of entrepreneurs move away from their homes and travel around the globe while working on their online businesses. Quite attractive, isn’t it?

8. Making more money

Finally, the last but not least reason to create an online course, especially in 2023 is money. You’ve probably heard that working the none-to-five can earn you a decent living, but it won’t make you wealthy. Well, a business can if done right.

No, not all businesses succeed. If it would have been so easy, everybody would be an entrepreneur. However, as I have mentioned already, now that the world is partly transitioning to online education, creating your own online course is probably one of the best types of information businesses to get into.

What I have mentioned above is not taken out of thin air. I know plenty of people that are successfully making online courses and earning six-figure incomes. Maybe not all will be that successful, but if you put the effort and time in, it usually means that you will have good results. And for some, those results can mean a completely new lifestyle.

This was it for today. If you have any questions for me regarding how to make an online course to sell, feel free to shoot me an email and I will be sure to reply back. ๐Ÿ™‚
