The Human race in the 21st century is sadly about punching the keyboard in a cubbyhole and coming home feeling dog-tired. People are living a life of lies, following a false narrative, and operate upon their delusions. There is a need to run away from this devilish energy and hullaballoo. What is the way out then?

Amidst the chaos, people find solace in the wrap of beautiful destinations, retreats and solo activities. Every single emotion needs an outlet and every human being needs peace to face their fears. You cannot triumph over your ego in an environment that gives you nothing but stress, anger, and frustration. People prefer heading over to popular destinations and do activities that enliven their dormant soul. Especially, the millennial generation shows keen interest in adventure activities.

According to a survey conducted in the United States of America that asked 37 individuals comprising respondents aged 18 to 34 years, clearly stated that walking and exploring places is an activity that they would prefer. Trekking and hiking are activities that let you unravel your fears, challenge your limits, and wake up your soul from the dead. For experienced trekkers, it is more like a sport of interest, but a newbie has to take a note here.

Since it is an adventure activity, therefore it is important that you take each step with caution and if you are new then, it becomes even more essential. Here are 4 situations you need to stay from as a first timer:

1. Exhaustion & No Elation

As a first timer, things shall excite you and the beauty of Mother Nature shall coax you to an extent that you will not stop. The passion to explore the fauna and paddle through the dense wood or stomp on the snow is so unreal at times, that trekkers overlook their physical limits. New adventure junkies might fall prey to their own excitement. If there is pain in your feet or your back screeches for help, then stop and take rest. You can always continue your journey the next day.

Usually, trekkers are health conscious individuals who exercise and train their legs. For instance, consider trekking in Nepal, trekkers climb Mount Everest, walk through the hilly circuits, and explore geo-politically sensitive areas. Do you think you are incapacitated enough? Easy as it may seem, considering these places will require you to train your legs, or at least pick up some physical activity to amplify your current health status. Anything else will serve a disastrous recipe.

2. No Skincare & Scab

There is a popular belief that skin care is for women only and men are supposed to be rugged. It is time to ditch the notion and probably ignoring the skincare is something you must avoid as a first-time trekker. The glistening sun rays look beautiful but it wreaks havoc on your exposed skin as well.

If you are in mountainous areas or at an altitude, there is a strong chance for UV rays to get through the skin barrier and tan your skin. Sometimes, the severity is too high and trekkers end up getting sun rashes and burns all over their exposed skin.

Trekking for the First Time

On the other side, if you prefer trekking in the woods and dense jungles, then make sure you have the repellent spray on, your body is moisturized properly, and your face is protected with sunblock. The skin on your face and neck is delicate and treating it improperly can be the worst decision of your life.

Trekking is an enjoyable sport but it also gives you unsightly sun kisses that you would regret getting, and rashes or scabs that are totally avoidable.

3. Shoes & Sore

Trekking shall challenge your physical capabilities, with your legs and feet at the forefront. Walking through the terrains, slashing through the might of the mountains, and defeating every hurdle on the way, a trekker completes a cycle of his spiritual awakening. Will you be able to take on this experience?

The first step to pave the way is to take care of your feet and making sure that you protect it by wearing the right footwear. Trekking Destinations like Rishikesh in India, Nepal, Africa, and Costa Rica have the most challenging weather, cobbled pathways, and hilly areas that are tough to walk over. Imagine wearing shoes that have no arch, have little to no cushioning and too tight for your foot size. This can lead to improper blood flow that can lead to blood clots in extreme weather conditions and severe calf muscle injury.

You have to admit that you tend to overlook small stuff and choosing good footwear is one of them. However, it is important for you to understand that climatic upheavals and taxing pathways can put a lot of strain on your body.

4. Dehydration & Death

Water is life and while you trek your way to the ultimate destination, it is important that you do not forget this natural liquid bounty. Trekking and later camping can be tiresome and you lose a lot of water in the form of sweat as well. The only way to recuperate from exhaustion and restore the water levels within your body is through hydration.

Trekking is not just about voyaging through the hurdled pathways but also withstanding the climate, being frost-bitten when in snow, and bear with the heat in the tropical destinations. Hydration is the key to maintaining a stronger body and immune system. Water catalyzes the transportation of nutrients to all the major organs in your body and enables cleansing as well. Remember that if your mind is clear and gut is happy, then no mountain is sturdy enough or jungles dark enough to shadow your aspirations.

Studies have revealed that not drinking enough water during activities like Camping and Trekking can lead to a disturbed blood pressure levels. Moreover, some severe cases have also reported sudden collapse and even death. So, while you pack all the expensive jackets and jumpers, make sure to pick up a water bottle or your favorite sipper as well.

There is always a first time and it stays in your conscious mind forever. Trekking for the first time can be tough but at the same time it is rewarding as well. There is a sense of victory when you masticate your negative thoughts and send out positivity instead. You will feel euphoria as you win over every hurdle that comes forward to bog you down. Do not let simple stuff hinder your path to spiritual growth.
